Cambodia Blog

It’s [Not] About Cambodia

For those of you who may be new to this blog, here is a little hint: it’s about Cambodia. Sometimes I stretch the definition a bit but that’s what you’re going to get. I get emails: people request I ’save hungry children’ or ’share important information’. These are from businesses, associations, even nonprofits too! What they want [...]

Bloggin’ Weekend Roundup

While we were preparing for our Phnom Penh meeting, another online crew over at Girls With Macs were voting on Cambodia alumni Michaela’s T-Shirt Design.  She’s running a marathon to raise money for Mit Samlanh and has raised nearly $1000 via her blog! (Not too late to donate!) BarCamp was lots of fun, and Thomas did [...]

Kill Your Email: BarCamp Phnom Penh Presentation

Kill Your Email You will need Flash for this. The presentation is really a ‘teaser’ to get Cambodian techies (most are quite literate in English) to check out the Inbox Zero series and related ideas. For BarCampPhnomPenh. Messages and Messengers

I missed The Messenger Band at Meta-House, but Andy Brouwer didn’t. They’ve now released an (internet only?) song that talks about the growing issue of evictions in Cambodia, at http://saveboeungkak.wordpress.com. My two cents? It may well be too late to  ’save’ the lake, but maybe the residents can still try to get some decent compensation. For the record, [...]

Anthropomorphic Cannibalism in Cambodia

Remember kids, there’s meat, and then there’s HAM. Cambodia is not the easiest place to keep kosher or halal. It seems like there is no Khmer dish that can’t be improved without a little pork - even coffee. Photo Wednesday picture from Pencil Supermarket, Phnom Penh, Norodom Boulevard. One of the reasons I carry a phone [...]

Smoke + Water = Ink = Comix

Okay, okay, I've been fairly slack with writing about comics because I've been pretty busy drawing them! I hope none of you will fault me. Met up with Toby Morris (some sample art below) at Hurley's Cantina a little over a week ago.… Continue

Yessss

I have added linky links to the right hand sidebar and it feels good...
Those dern Google ads are the price we pay for having all these bells and whistles. If I pay $20 a month I can remove them... 'Hasbro action figures' or 'Transformers' merch are not exactly what this site is about...

The main 'front page' blog has been shifted over to http://blog.comicslifestyle.com. (Thanks to my Lao - based webwonk pal for sorting this!)

Hi John - looking forward to delving into CL a bit more and exploring the works of the creators here. So many comics and so little time to read them and talk about them and tell the world about them.
Melbourne is really lovely bubbling scene at the moment and i'm hoping to chip in my 2 bits to keeping it that way and seeing it grow a bit more.

Hi John,
Yeah, the plagiarism thing is pretty crazy. I am not sure what to think about it at all. I know this is a little retarded, but there is some small part of me that gets a kick out of being in a book with such talented people.
