About Me:
I've been attempting to make comics for some time, now, and have posted some of them on my website. The latest one I've worked on is a semi-autobiographical rock-n-roll sort of thing, called "Angels of the Sword," which I'm recording my own original music for (I'm also a musician, singer and songwriter). But my longest-running comic was a sci-fi/espionage story called "ShadowFall." I've got 250+ pages of it still in the online archive, and I'll eventually return to finish it. At the moment, I'm too distracted with shiny things and can't seem to do much drawing. ;P

Here's a convenient link to "Angels of the Sword:"

I have some of the music on my own website and some of it on Last.FM, where I go by my old stage name of Kai Starr. The songs are mostly rough demos, so don't expect broadcast quality, if you give them a listen.

I've also got a brand new website for my fiction, centering on my new obsession: Westerns! I've got sci-fi, fantasy, and ghost stories on there, too, but it's got a Western theme. Currently, I have two finished Westerns and two finished sci-fi novels on the site, plus another Western in daily serialization. I'm about to start another one, in a few weeks! The site is called Outlaw Starr, for a nice play on words with my pseudonym, Kai Starr. Check it out right here: KaiStarr.com.

Thanks for stopping by! (^o^)

The Example - Tom Taylor, Colin Wilson

When Melbourne playwright Tom Taylor decided he wanted to turn his 2005 short play The Example into a graphic novel, he got short shrift from illustrators he sought to contact on an internet forum. They were wary of getting involved with a speculative project. Taylor finally got a sympathetic response from artist Colin Wilson. It was stroke of luck. Wilson, an illustrator with more than 30 years of experience, has worked on cult offerings such as anti-hero Judge Dredd from British comic 2000 AD, Star Wars comics and French detective fiction. Finding an artist with a style to match the content is not easy, says Taylor, 34, a long-time devotee of speech bubbles and the picture grid. "With comics you're trying to create a full story and you can't do a really deep, philosophical, hard-hitting piece with a guy who draws a predominantly cartoony style; it doesn't work if it's Daffy Duck."
