Recently I've been enjoying opportunities to do editorial illustrations as well, and hope to find more work of this kind. I've also been fortunate enough to receive recognition from the Canada Council for the Arts in the form of a grant allowing me to complete a Novel length project which I’m currently working on. I also just finished a Graphic Novel, a collaboration with DIY author/publisher Jim Munroe, available now from NMK and soon from IDW in the US! Go here for more down low on that.

Occasionally I’ve also worked in film doing storyboards, designed and manufactured props, painted murals, and carved a trade sign or two for local bars.

Comic Book Tattoo and Myspace puts a smile on my face.

Comic Book Tattoo: The upcoming Tori Amous project from Image Comics is a big monster of a book, 480-page, full colour & tons of talent in it!

I was invited to illustrate a story by Mark Sable rifting off of Upside Down for the book. And best bit is I get to show it off to you now.

There has been a few taunting peeks of some of the amazing stuff people did for this book, and thanks to Tori and Rantz, it’s Mark’s and my honor to have… Continue

The Example - Tom Taylor, Colin Wilson

When Melbourne playwright Tom Taylor decided he wanted to turn his 2005 short play The Example into a graphic novel, he got short shrift from illustrators he sought to contact on an internet forum. They were wary of getting involved with a speculative project. Taylor finally got a sympathetic response from artist Colin Wilson. It was stroke of luck. Wilson, an illustrator with more than 30 years of experience, has worked on cult offerings such as anti-hero Judge Dredd from British comic 2000 AD, Star Wars comics and French detective fiction. Finding an artist with a style to match the content is not easy, says Taylor, 34, a long-time devotee of speech bubbles and the picture grid. "With comics you're trying to create a full story and you can't do a really deep, philosophical, hard-hitting piece with a guy who draws a predominantly cartoony style; it doesn't work if it's Daffy Duck."
